I love this photo because of the incredible texture of the bark. The over-exposed background next to the darkness of inside of the tree-stump adds interesting contrasts – black against white – texture against flat tones.

These stairs can be found along a bush walk in Ku-ring-gai national park in Sydney, NSW Australia. Originally shot in colour. Converted to B&W with Photoshop, cropped and heavily edited. Falling back into a swimming pool with a splash. Using a fast shutter speed on this shot helped me to capture the waters movement. Another B&W conversion. These frangipanis were shot using a Canon 400D with EF 50mm f/1.8 II. The colour tones were edited quite dramatically prior to the B&W conversion.

Originally shot with my Canon EOS 5 on Kodak Ultramax colour film, ISO 400. I used an old Canon EF 28-90mm lens with this shot. Scanned in colour and converted to black and white with Adobe Photoshop. There was only minimal level editing done on this shot beyond the B&W conversion.
