Twist

Shot this very early one morning. I had stopped off at a national park to find some interesting trees to shoot. On the way back to my car I was crossing a suspension bridge and i noticed the cables that held it up. I shot a few of these, and after some editing and cropping [...]

Neopan

Here’s another film simulation. I was out to lunch today and noticed this arc of windows sweeping around gently into infinity. The shot has been cropped slightly. This was done for composition and also to remove the nearest window from the frame as there were structures and lights visible which didn’t really suit the rest [...]

Lemon Grass

I named this photo “Lemon Grass” after the filters that I used to get the warm sepia split tones. I used the Film Lab iPhone app once again here to simulate film and grain, and I quite like the shot even though (especially because) the grain is very coarse, which was obtained by adjusting the [...]

Coffee

It’s a Saturday ritual for my wife and our boys. We head on down to our local coffee shop and debrief the activities of the week over breakfast. I often pull out my iphone at some point and snap some photos of friends or family. On this particular day, I noticed the light and shadows [...]

stairs

These stairs can be found along a bush walk in Ku-ring-gai national park in Sydney, NSW Australia. Originally shot in colour. Converted to B&W with Photoshop, cropped and heavily edited. It was necessary for me to use dodge and burn extensively in this version of the photo so that I could obtain the contrast I [...]

splash

Falling back into a swimming pool with a splash. Using a fast shutter speed on this shot helped me to capture the waters movement. I adjusted brightness and contrast on this image prior to converting to B&W. The shot was heavily cropped and the colour levels were altered during the conversion process. After converting, I [...]

Frangipani

Another B&W conversion. These frangipanis were shot using a Canon 400D with EF 50mm f/1.8 II. The colour tones were edited quite dramatically prior to the B&W conversion.

Not Listening

Originally shot with my Canon EOS 5 on Kodak Ultramax colour film, ISO 400. I used an old Canon EF 28-90mm lens with this shot. Scanned in colour and converted to black and white with Adobe Photoshop. There was only minimal level editing done on this shot beyond the B&W conversion.

Another shot with my Canon 400D. I wasn’t completely happy with the original versin of this image. It has been heavily edited with Photoshop.
